Things that Are Difficult to Do

...when you have a slipped disc...or when Lucifer has taken his bloodless, boney index finger and run it across your vertibrae, one at a time like a mallet on a marimba, his spikey, filthy fingernail clickety-click against the bones, retracting the muscles into an angry and immovable mass.

-standing
-sitting
-laying down
-getting up from a laying down position
-sneezing
-working at your desk
-playing a French horn
-petting the cat
-picking up dropped items
-washing the dishes
-buying groceries
-vacuuming
-getting in and out of the car
-not moving for 20 minutes at a time

Ouch! Yuck. Curse Lucifer.

At least you don't have to vacuum?

Sorry to hear about your back... I have just got over a dose of back pain, a friend bought me a heat pad, and that was really good, do not know if would help a slipped disc though, hope it soon improves...

Oh, poor Robyn.
May the Spirits of Anaesthesia rub gentle salve into your back (I'd have a go but I can't reach) …

Thanks to all of you. My car wouldn't start this afternoon, so I had to drive the pickup to pick up my daughter--it was not fun. Every little bump was a jolt.

Wow. It was so nice to wake up to all of these well-wishings, even from the singley minded Old K. Oh, but when I go back and reread his comment, I see he didn't actually wish me well.

Anyway, thank you. Sleeping is a relief, but now I am here for another day of frozen-back syndrome.

Back pain is so awful; even knowing it will get better is little consolation, but it WILL get better, Robyn.
And very soon, I hope.

Now what was it you were telling me about knitting?
